Niles Animal Hospital and Bird Medical Center
Your pet deserves the best care available! We have been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association(AAHA) since 1953. Niles Animal Hospital and Bird Medical Center is a full-service veterinary hospital located in Niles, Illinois. We have been providing quality pet care since our founding in 1949 by Dr. T. J. Lafeber and that tradition has continued under the direction of Dr. Peter S. Sakas.
We provide veterinary care for dogs, cats, small mammals and pet birds. Our pet bird practice is nationally recognized. In addition, we work closely with animal rescue organizations and wildlife rehabilitators. The professional and courteous staff at Niles Animal Hospital and Bird Medical Center seeks to provide the best possible preventive health care, senior care, diagnostic services, medical treatment, surgical and dental care for our highly-valued patients. We also provide Class IV Therapy Laser treatments and laser surgery. Dr. Don Staunton, a 1994 University of Illinois graduate (who grew up in the Niles area), is a very skilled surgeon who has increased our capacity to perform more advanced surgical procedures, including "Veterinary Stem Cell Regenerative Therapy". In addition to seeing dogs and cats, he provides care for small mammals as well.
Niles Animal Hospital was recognized by Town and Country Magazine in July 1997 as being excellent in an article rating veterinary hospitals. Niles was also the featured practice in Trends Magazine (published by AAHA) in 1991. Dr. Sakas was named as one of the best avian veterinarians in Chicagoland in an article rating veterinarians in Chicago Magazine. In addition, Dr Sakas was honored as one of the nation’s best veterinarians in 2007 by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. Another distinction, Niles Animal Hospital was named one of the “Best Vets for Your Pets” in the Summer/Fall issue of Chicago Consumer’s Checkbook. In 2011, Niles Animal Hospital was awarded the CMUS (Celebration Media U.S.) Talk of the Town Award for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction. We were also recognized in 2011 by Angie’s List for excellence in customer satisfaction.
Niles has been featured in various public service announcements and educational videos. In fact, a former Miss America, Dr. Debbye Turner (a veterinarian) filmed a promotional video for the American Veterinary Medical Association at Niles Animal Hospital in December 1991. A case from the hospital, featuring Dr. Kostuch, was on an episode of the television show, “My Dog Ate What?” Recently, Niles Animal Hospital, Dr. Sakas, Dr. Staunton, some of our clients and their pets were featured in some instructional videos about pet care produced by the American Veterinary Medical Association. There are other awards and distinctions Niles Animal Hospital has achieved through the years.
Our goal is to provide superior service so that each visit is beneficial and enjoyable for our clients and their pets. We pride ourselves on our client education so we endeavor to make each visit instructional as well. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and strengthening the human-animal bond, so that you can have a life-long, loving relationship with your pets.
We appreciate your continued trust and faith in us through the years as Niles Animal Hospital and Bird Medical Center continues to offer excellence in veterinary care to the Chicagoland area and surrounding states.
